Rotary Club of Tampa Foundation

The mission of The Rotary Club of Tampa Foundation is to advance the well-being of our community through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty.

The Rotary Club of Tampa Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation supported solely by voluntary contributions from Tampa Rotarians and friends of the Foundation who share its vision of a better community.

Rotary Club of Tampa Foundation 2012 Annual Report
1. All club members are foundation members; annual report is mandated in our bylaws.

2. Significant developments over past year:
a. We developed a mission statement that says: The mission of the Rotary Club of Tampa Foundation is to provide monetary and other support for its Club’s local and international projects and/or charities.

   b. We have an updated and revised set of by-laws for our foundation.

   c. We have opened an account with Black Rock Investments and have placed our assets in this fund for management. We have a sound and appropriate investment policy that has been reviewed and is being implemented.

   d. In the last club year we got into our fund-raising very late in the year. We raised the following amounts
i. From the member contributions $20,502
ii. This represents about a 60% participation rate of the membership
iii. From the Solstice event of June 2012: $16,097
iv. From Happy hour $1145
v. The total contributed to the foundation in by membership: $37,744

   e. Projects accomplished in the last year included:
i. $2009 for new benches at Rotary Camp Florida
ii. $5000 for Liberty Mompierre Boys & Girls Club Computer Lab Upgrade
iii. $6409 for Christmas Gift Wrapping Project (schools in Hillsborough County)
iv. $5000 for Glazer Children’s Museum for Title 1 Children’s Program
v. $2000 for bank of toilets for The Akilah Institute for Women, Rwanda
vi. $990 for Child Abuse Council, Kids on the Block Project
vii. $2000 for The Wheels of Success Program
viii. Reading is Fundamental $1143
ix. Total projects funded 2012: $24,551
x. For the Gift of Life Project (done with 6 other Rotary Clubs) we turned $20,000 into a final contribution of $80,000 with other clubs and RF match funds for 16 cardiac surgeries on children.

   f. Status of the club foundation today=just over $645,350

    g. GOL summary to date: Lots of credit to lots of people:
i. Since 2002, 98 surgeries on infants & children
ii. Matching grants totaling $430,000 and estimates of roughly $1M in purchased & donated equipment.

   h. Theme for projects for this current Rotary year: “Bridging the Gap” with a focus on children and the elderly with the community service committee working diligently to develop the project list for this year.
i. We have committed $26,000 for projects in this Rotary year.

   j. In 2013-2014 will be our centennial year. We are working with Wayne Critcher to develop an event/project that will appropriately allow us to celebrate our 100 years of existence. We are standing with him and collaborating with him in this effort.

   k. The funds you contribute in this year will go to support the development of that centennial project. The “ask” letter for this year for funds for the next year will go out in the beginning of October.

3. Our goals for the year are to bring better organization to this foundation and to increase your knowledge in it and your willingness to contribute to it. Also to increase your pride in it.

In 2011-2012, we donated a total of $56,730 to the following:

$2,000: Sanitation
